Здравствуйте RCS. This is John Prekrasnyĭ broadcasting from a lavish resort on the Isle of Capris. Sorry I have not posted in a while as I am on a worldwide cruise on a steamship with my friend, a gentleman from San Francisco, his wife and his daughter. It has been a bumpy ride, but a much needed ride none the less.
We have a lot to cover, so let me get started. First we have set up the incentive program. The following is rules for the incentive program:
Russian Culture Society Fall 2011 Incentive Program:
- Attending a meeting or Russkii Stol: 1 ticket
- Bringing a friend to meetings (who has never attended before): 1 ticket (for member and friend each)
- Helping out at a club or university event (staffing a table/booth, participating in a demonstration, set up/take down, preparing and bringing a food dish): 1 ticket (for long events, 1 ticket/ hr helping)
- Attending an event the club or university hosts at which the club is represented: 1 ticket (for an amount of time longer than to say ‘hello’).

Note: Tickets will be used to draw names from during a raffle, to be held on the last meeting of the school semester. What can be done to earn tickets and/or how much participating in an activity is worth are subject to change at the digression of the RCS Politburo. The Incentive Program does not apply to elected officers.
I think a big round applause to Kelsey for creating a great way for RCS members to be active.
Next subject on the agenda is the 31st BED RACES at UT ARLINGTON on Thursday (Oct. 6) at Maverick Stadium at 7:00 pm. Anyone interested in being a part of the winning Russian Bed Racing team, we are in need of two females and one more person of either gender as we have two males committed for the co-ed race. The next three qualifying people to email our fearless leader Kelsey at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday (Oct. 5) by 10 am will able to participate. They must be able to be at Maverick Stadium (1307 W. Mitchell Street, Arlington, TX) at 6:00 for mandatory meeting for racers. Come and help led RCS to victory in a great UTA tradition.
Third item on the agenda is the RCS General meeting this Friday (Oct. 7) in Hammond Hall, Rm. 221 at 12 noon. We will be discussing all upcoming events and other items on the agenda. So bring a friend, a coworker, a classmate, a frienemy, or just a guy you drag of the street. Remember, you get ticket for a person you are able to bring to a meeting. If you can’t do that, bring yourself so you voice can be heard.
Just a friendly reminder, this Friday at 6:00 pm in Trimble Hall, Rm 200, we will be having another RCS Movie Night. The movie selected for our viewing pleasure is 1612: Chronicles of the Times of Troubles. From IMDB:
The czar of Russia has died and a power vacuum has developed. This period in the late 16th and early 17th century has been called “The Time of Troubles.” There are many impostors who claim to the right to rule, but there’s only one heir, the Czarina Kseniya Godunova. She has married a Polish military leader who wants to claim the Russian throne in her name so he can rule all of Russia. As the Poles move in on Moscow in an attempt to install the czarina on the throne, Andrei, a serf with a life-long infatuation of the czarina attempts to save her from her brutal Polish husband. A complicated story wrapped around mysticism and legend climaxes in a bloody battle between the Poles and the Russians for control of the empire.
This epic movie has everything; Romance, Action, Adventure, and is only 148 minutes long.
This weekend is also our camping adventure. We will be camping out at Cedar Hill State Park this Saturday (Oct. 8 ) night. For those who are interested in going, please bring $10 for food to the general meeting on Friday, or make arrangements with Kelsey (you can email her at email@example.com). For people who have graciously offered equipment and/or offer carpooling will receive a letter of appreciation from our wonderful leader. If you would like offer these services to RCS just email Kelsey. For those that have volunteer to drive and those that need a ride, we are planning to meet on the northwest area of the MAC parking lot at 1 pm on Saturday (Oct. 8). People who can only come for a few hours can bring their own vehicles, but are responsible for finding parking away from the campsite and paying their own entry fee. You will also be expected to pay the ten dollars if you want to eat with us. We will be playing games and hopefully be making the experience as close to Russian immersion as possible.
One last subject to cover, Student Governance & Organizations is seeking input and perspective from organization members as we strive to improve your student organization and the campus involvement experience. If you not receive a message via MavOrgs, please read the following:
YOU are a member of a student organization and we want to hear from YOU!

Your feedback is important to us as our staff strives to improve your student organization and your campus involvement experience. Also, by filling out the survey, you will be entered into a drawing for a free Kindle or iPod Nano.

Well, this is John Prekrasnyĭ signing off as I hear that a person just died in the next room. Oh well, he must have not been important. It is time for the ball. I hope the guy I can’t remember’s daughter is there. We shall see…
